Hood Deco?

So I'm currently working on and testing a largeish re-texture set of Criquette's various neighbourhood deco items so that they match CuriousB's road replacements, and something is starting to irk me a bit. I'm not sure if it's just me, but has anyone ever noticed that the road and trolly stuff sits a smidge above the ground? It's really only evident when playing a lot, where it hovers up to my sims' knees. The thing is I notice this about some maxis items as well, like the fire hydrant.

I'm not skilled in the ways of meshing, but I wonder if anyone out there might be able to fix this :/

Yes, I've noticed this too, and it does bug me. It's long been on my 'to-do' list, as I'm sure it must be a very simple issue of the mesh being placed too high. But, be my guest Aquilegia, if you want to go ahead and fix them as I'm pretty busy at the moment! ;)

(Hope the tooth-pulling wasn't too traumatic!)

I'll give it a look in a few days, then, assuming my computer doesn't finally melt down for good on me -- in which case it'll be a few weeks until I can rebuild it, heh.

(Thanks! It was pretty simple and much better than living with an outraged wisdom tooth, just takes me a few days to recover.)

:)

Sorry for being slow as hell, but I did finally get a look at some of the deco. The problem does indeed seem to be that the items are just too high up. Fixing them poses a different problem, however; bringing them low enough they aren't obviously hovering in lot view means they go under the roads in neighborhood view (but they still show on top of the roads in lot view). I've only tried this with the flat walkways so far, but it means anything with bits flat to the 'ground' will be hidden by the road if you put them over the road.

They also still hover a bit in lot view, since I tried putting them at the same height EAxis alleyways are on (those also go under roads in neighborhood view). I haven't tried putting them close to completely flush to the ground yet -- there's no reason why it wouldn't work, it just means that they're going to be even less tolerant of terrain elevation changes (so they'll clip more into slightly raised ground).

Anyway, that's where I'm at so far; where the particular height of the meshes should be is, as far as I can tell, a matter of personal preferences regarding terrain variation tolerance, if things appear to go over or under roads in neighborhood view, and how much they hover over the ground in lot view. Let me know what you prefer and what meshes you want done (it's not hard to fix, just... tedious) and I'll fix as many as I can.
